Play of the Year Festival 2017/18

NOTTINGHAM AND NOTTINGHAMSHIRE DRAMA ASSOCIATION

Dear Member

I hope you all had a good summer break and know that already you have started on your 2017/18 season. Similarly it is time to start getting in your entries for the new
Play of the Year Competition.
The last one brought us 21 entries so it is still a popular competition. Don't forget though that the adjudication and your improvement is as important as winning trophies.

The entry fee is £65.00 per entry as last year and the new rule changes and certificates again apply.
Remember that photocopied scripts are not acceptable unless the play is out of print, when a copy of permission to photocopy must be attached to your entry.
Copies of original or unpublished works are allowed.
Please give yourselves time to acquire the relevant paperwork before sending in your entry.

Our adjudicator this year is Jane Herring who has extensive experience is all aspects of the theatre. I am sure you will all give her your usual warm welcome.

Jane Herring has been involved with amateur theatre for as long as she can remember. Her parents met at an amateur dramatic society, so it was a family background that led to a life-long interest in theatre - through school, university and a working life in London, Northampton and Nottingham. After early retirement from an HR role at Boots, she gained an MA in Counselling at the University of Nottingham, and having worked as an independent counsellor for some years, she retired - again.

She's been an active member of the Lace Market Theatre for many years - as actor, stage manager, director, and costumier, in addition to serving on the Board. This is one area of her life she hasn't retired from yet. She's fortunate enough to enjoy at least one big project each year - playing Eleanor in The Lion in Winter (2015), directing A Midsummer Night's Dream (2016), costuming Guys and Dolls (2017) - as well as a range of smaller ones.

And she's very much looking forward to her latest role as Adjudicator for NANDA's Play of the Year 2017/18. She feels extremely privileged to be asked to be your professional theatre-goer. And it's a role she undertakes with enormous respect, knowing the weeks and months of hard work behind each show, and appreciating the teamwork necessary to bring a production to its first night

The Dinner and Awards night will be at the Crown Plaza Hotel Wollaton Street Nottingham on Friday 22nd June 2018
