Play of the Year Festival 2013/14


NOTTINGHAM AND NOTTINGHAMSHIRE DRAMA ASSOCIATION

Play of the Year season is about to launch itself upon us again so fill in your entry forms and get them sent in. We are getting a wonderful response from both seasoned and new member groups, with 15 to 18 plays being entered each year, and the standard is certainly improving.

Our adjudicator this season is Colin Treliving, who is well known to many in the Nottingham area.

Colin first stage appearance was at the age of 10 when asked to play a part in a Gilbert and Sullivan opera, in his native Newcastle upon Tyne. But it was only when he moved to Cardiff where he joined a theatre group that his real interest in drama began to flourish. At this time he took the LAMDA examinations, resulting in a gold medal in drama, and also a teaching diploma.
Since then he has been actively involved in community theatre for over 40years, as an actor, director and, stage designer.

Credits as a director include, "A Streetcar Named Desire"(winning the NANDA best director), Uncle Vanya", "Cabaret", "Follies", "Little Shop of Horrors", "Jesus Christ Superstar", "The Merry Widow", "Night of the Iguana", "Absurd Person Singular","The Glass Menagerie", "Cinderella.", "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie",The Imaginary Invalid".

Credits as an actor include, Professor Higgins in "My Fair Lady",Garry Essendine in "Present Laughter",Frank in "Educating Rita",Dr Wicksteed in "Habeas Corpus".Honore in "Gigi".Sir Robert in "The Winslow Boy". The Twins in "Ring Round the Moon", Ken in "Whose Life is it Anyway?" Sir in "The Dresser" .

Colin was for 4 years Chairman of the board of directors of The Nottingham Arts Theatre, and is at present Chairman of The People's Theatre Company

The fee for each entry is again £60, payable with your entry form and script.
A copy of the rules is attached and I hope you will all re read them, even though you know what they say!!!! Some little nuance may have passed you by.
Remember that your nominations for the Sidney Hopkin award MUST be made WITH your entry and not at a later date.
Plays with music and Pantomimes are acceptable, but not full musicals.

A months notice must be given for each entry, but you can send them in earlier as it helps the adjudicator with his diary.

The Annual Dinner and Presentation of Awards will take place at the Welbeck Hotel Nottingham on Friday 20th June 2014
