One Act Play Festival
The One Act Festival is a open one act play festival where all the
plays are performed at the same venue, usually in Spring.

Trophies and Winners
The origins of the Nanda One Act Festival are a bit obscure.
The first one appears to have been held in 1957, but all that
is recorded about it is that it lost money.
Around this time Nanda took over hosting the local first round
of the British Drama League's One Act Festival. This was
combined with the Nanda Festival, enabling winners to go
forward to the next round of the national festival. It also
meant that the Nanda Festival was no longer restricted to
members and became an open festival.
Being an early round of this national festival however forced
the Nanda Festival to be uncomfortably early, and finally,
in 1979 the Nanda Festival moved from March to June in pursuit
of a viable number of entries. Despite losing connection with
the national festival the Nanda Festival has remained an
Open Festival.
Nanda, however, has restored the link with the, now,
All England Theatre Festival ,
so the the Nanda Festival is back in March.
