THREE CHURCES DRAMA GROUP in 1986

Chairman: Pat Burton - Woodborough
Secretary: Ariane Roberts - Woodborough

The Three Churches Drama Group was formed five years ago when 14 rather nervous people got together to entertain Church Harvest Supper guests with a series of sketches. It was planned to progress to one-act plays which we did the following year. Membership was slowly growing, but the producer still had to be a Jack-of-all-trades. In Spring 1983 we took the plunge into full-length plays. By now we had formed a committee and acquired a resourceful stage manager who constructed an inexpensive box set for us.

Our stage and numbers are small; to survive we have to be adaptable and hard-working - a close-knit team who welcome new challenges. Working in a village has its pros and cons; our audiences enjoy having live theatre in their midst! But, because whole families come, we find our choice of play restricted - nothing too avant-garde or sexy - we might bore or offend.

From the start we have divided our profits among the three churches in Woodborough, though you don't have to be a member to join. So we can be useful and enjoy ourselves at the same time! - 'a consummation devoutly to be wished'.
