ROCLAVESTON PLAYERS in 1986

Chairman: Vernon Birkinshaw - Tollerton
Secretary: Anna Barrett - Tollerton

The Roclaveston Players is Tollerton's own drama group and is affiliated to and forms part of the St Peter's Fellowship. The present name derives from one of the old names for Tollerton (Troclaveston) which was mis-translated by Thoroton in The History of Nottinghamshire.

The group was formed in 1974 to encourage and assist the interest in drama in the village by means of play readings, periodic meetings and the public performance of plays. Since that time the players have presented two full length plays each year in the autumn and spring in the Rectory Rooms.

However, more recently productions have moved to the Tollerton Primary School where the stage is bigger and the seating capacity greater. The group is now commencing its thirteenth season with enthusiasm and a membership of about 20. This creates difficulties in choosing new plays. The productions are directed mainly by Reg Bungay who is a very experienced person and has been a member of the group since it was formed.

Recent productions have included:
"For Services Rendered"
"When We Are Married"
"Blithe Spirit"
