4. Youth Festival 2023- Mel’s notes:
Following the Council Zoom Meeting on the 3rd Oct Linda provided me with the names of 3 possible Adjudicators, Max Bromley, Stephen Godward and Amanda Hall. I passed these names to Gordan requesting his help. Gordon confirmed that Max would be our man he himself would act as long stop. Thanks Gordon.
At the Zoom Meeting Gordon suggested I pass details of the Festival to Martha Toogood which I can confirm I did. Charlotte passed me contact details for another possible source of entry
E Bates at Redhill Academy. I emailed our letter entry form etc but no response to date.
On the 24t October I drafted a PDF Notice advising all that the closing date for the festival was fast approaching. Howard posted it on Facebook, Charlotte emailed it to all groups, and I emailed it to all I have previously sent entry forma etc to.
On Friday morning I received a phone from call from a lady stating she was Head of Drama at a school the name I couldn’t catch Unfortunately the line was bad. The caller agreed to email me her details and I would get back to her.
Saturday evening I received the one and only entry from the Robin Hood Youth Theatre.
On Monday morning I managed to contact the person who had called on Friday. A Miss Demi Hughes Head of Drama at Emanuel School Bridgford. Demi had indicated in an email on the 23rd Sept that she was looking into entering the festival. I explained that we had received only oner entry and the NANDA Council would be discussing the way forward tonight. Demi stated that she had sent an email to all (8 other schools) heads of drama within the Archway Learning trust.
Do we continue with a festival of which only one entry is within the NANDA group?
The Executive Council decided after long discussion to cancel the event
A discussion ensued:
· Could we combine the youth and 1 act festival
· However, previous years, show no or little interest from NANDA groups for 1 act or Youth.
· Find out what Youth groups are doing.
· Cancel 2023 and research for 2024- Melvin to cancel the theatre
· Gauge feedback from groups on what months are the best to hold them
· Rob H to start discussion with groups
· Reach out to Youth theatre groups like spotlight
