4 FESTIVALS
a)Play of the Year 14/15 and Dinner
JW reported that three more plays remain to be adjudicated before the competition ends on 31st May. As the adjudicator, Phil Austin, is a member of the Lace Market Theatre, Stephen Godward had been asked to act as moderator in the Lace Market's two entries and he had also adjudicated on two other occasions when Phil Austin had been unavailable. After discussion, it was agreed that Stephen Godward be paid £25 for each time he had adjudicated in place of or as moderator to Phil Austin.
Dinner LW has sent out invitations and information to all groups and interested parties. MR and LW will send the names of those giving the toast to NANDA and the grace to CD. JW will forward details of the adjudicator to CD for inclusion in the programme.
b) One Act Festival - 2015
Bob Wildgust began by thanking members of the Council, particularly Linda and Howard Whitehurst, Mike Stewart and Mel Reynolds for their help in making the AETF quarter final such a success. Praise was also given to the staff of the Bonington Theatre and the stage management team. He had received a thank you letter from the Mayor of Gedling , who had greatly enjoyed the event. He reported that £450 had been taken on the door, £40 came from the sale of programmes and overall the event had incurred a loss of £90 (according to latest figures).
After a discussion it was resolved that in future NANDA would contribute £50 to a winning or runner-up NANDA group, to help with expenses. AETF also contributes £50 for winners' and runner-up's expenses.
Tony Vokes raised a query from a member of WBDS, who had questioned the need for entrants in the first session having to pay for two sessions in order to hear the result. RW said that this was AETF policy as the festival barely covered costs or ran at a loss. They could not sustain the cost of running a festival if groups got in free of charge.
There was a discussion about the dates for next year's NANDA One Act festival. The weekend of 5/6February 2016 was agreed - LW will book the Bonington theatre for those dates.
c)Youth Festival
Two entries had dropped out, so there were now six entries. Final arrangements were discussed. ML asked what were the criteria for deciding order of appearance. These included age of contestants (younger ones first), length of play and how it fits into the session, and distance the group travels. ML said that it would be useful to be given a preference when submitting an entry.
