4 FESTIVALS
a)Play of the Year 14/15 and Dinner
There have been 8 entries so far:- Bonington, Lace Market (2), Prospect Players, WBDS (2), PTC, Burton Joyce. Three more plays are likely to be entered in the near future.
Bob Wildgust said that he had been in discussion with Leicestershire about the One Act Play Festival and in the course of this discussion they had been keen to discuss the possibility of NANDA incorporating Leicestershire into our Play of the Year competition in the future. They noted NANDA's success with the PoY and had said that theirs was, in contrast, struggling. Three groups in particular - Blaby, Ratai Players and Whetstone Players had expressed interest. As a reciprocal arrangement it was suggested that NANDA could join with Leicestershire in the One Act Festival which they could organise; their One Act is successful and usually attracts enough entries to make it a 2 night event. The Council discussed these suggestions and expressed approval of the idea in principle.
HW queried the criteria for the 'presentation' award and asked how it differed from others eg set design. JW replied that we were confined by the trophies and what they were originally for. It was decided that a clearer definition of the award categories was needed, based on current ideas and terminology. JW will bring the award definitions to the next meeting when the subject will be discussed further.
CD asked whether it would be possible to put the name of the winning play on the certificate; this omission had been commented upon by various recipients. JW replied that there was no room on the current certificates. She will bring a blank copy to the next meeting when the matter will be discussed further.
Dinner - Nothing to report. LW will find out about menus and prices. MS noted that a list of extra people to be invited/notified is needed.
b) One Act Festival - 2015
As reported at the AGM, RW said that, with regret he had had to cancel this year's One Act Festival. There had been only one entry from West Bridgford Dramatic Society. As they had paid their fee and registered on time, RW had persuaded AETF to allow WBDS to proceed to the quarter final stage of the competition, which is to be held at the Bonington Theatre on 25th April.
RW said he had been organising the One Act Festival for four years and had come to the conclusion that there was little interest; in spite of his efforts at publicising the event he struggled to get entries and questioned whether we should abandon it as a competition. Joining with Leicestershire, as discussed earlier, would be a salvation. HW noted that most groups had to consider what was commercially viable and the One Act did not fit in with this need; proceeding to further rounds of the competition represented a big commitment in terms of time and cost.
It was decided that RW pursue the idea of combining with Leicestershire.
There will be a meeting to discuss the details of the AETF quarter final competition on March 5th. It was agreed that we need to be more pro active with selling tickets. LW will ask whether tickets can be printed off in advance to allow members to sell them.
c)Youth Festival
Jean Lebeter has sent out information to participating groups. JW will email all groups, the website and Facebook. The deadline for entries is 4th April.

5 THEATRE LUNCHEON
A successful Celebrity Luncheon for 40 members had been held on 29th January, with an entertaining talk and question and answer session from Norman Pace. The Chairman thanked LW and CD for organising the event. It was agreed to send a donation of £100 to Norman Pace for a charity of his choice; LW will contact him about this. LW will send a letter to David Suchet, inviting him to a luncheon when he is appearing at the Theatre Royal.
