4 FESTIVALS
a) Play of the Year 12/13 and Dinner
The Chairman reported that there had been 17 entries from nine groups - the highest number for some years.
Due to the adjudicator's occasional unavailability, Robert Wildgust had adjudicated six entries, but, apart from one, the adjudicator had been able to see rehearsals, so that he and RW could liaise.
Colin Treliving (People's Theatre Company) had agreed to be next season's adjudicator and the Chairman confirmed that this would be no bar to PTC entering.
It was suggested that Colin be invited to attend this year's dinner (at his own expense).
Dinner - Linda Whitehurst had sent a menu from the Welbeck Hotel for the Council to consider. This was approved and it was agreed to keep the meal the same price as last year's - £23 for members. LW will send out invitations in due course.
The Chairman will ask Jean Krzeminski, Stephen Godward's guest, to present the prizes.
b) One Act Festival -
At the Leicester festival, the Margaret Guilford trophy was awarded to Keyworth Dramatic Society, as the Nottinghamshire representatives. Keyworth did not take up the offer of going through to the quarter final. Robert Wildgust outlined the problems within AETF, experienced by the various regions, mainly relating to the cost of organising festivals. RW stated his intention of holding a NANDA one act festival in 2014. Roy Ainscough said that it was important to build on the success of last year's festival and encourage groups earlier in the season to consider entering. RW will do an initial mailing and remind groups of the offer of £100 towards expenses if a group progresses to the next round. He said that the personal approach was the most successful in encouraging groups to enter. However, no dates could be decided until AETF's plans are known
c)Youth Festival
This will be a one day festival on Saturday May 11th, with five plays entered, from three groups. The final arrangements were discussed.
