4 FESTIVALS
a) Play of the Year 11/12 and Dinner
The final total of entries was 15 from eight groups. All the adjudications had been completed and winners decided. The adjudications had gone well and most groups had expressed satisfaction.
All the cups had been returned in good time, but it was noted that most had not been cleaned, in spite of this being a written instruction for all prizewinners.
Final arrangements for the forthcoming Awards Dinner were discussed. There will be 112 people attending
b) One Act Festival -
There was no out-turn for this event yet. WBDS had performed in the final, had been in the last eight but had not been placed. This year's festival had been combined with a Shakespeare festival and winners had been Shakespeare adaptations.
Bob Wildgust has already made a tentative start on next year's festival, by arranging a meeting with representatives from Leicestershire and Warwickshire to avoid a clash of dates. Bonington Theatre is being considered for next year's event. Jack Barrett congratulated Bob on his excellent press release.
c) Youth Festival
There was no out turn for this event yet. The Chairman congratulated Sonya Oates and Jean Lebeter on organising an excellent festival which had been enjoyed by audience and participants alike. She thanked Bob Wildgust for his adjudication.
5 DIRECTORS' COURSE
Bob Wildgust reported that full details of the course had been emailed to all groups.
Twelve people from 4 groups had already enrolled and four more had expressed an interest. The maximum group size would be 15 or 16. However, if there was more interest, it would be possible to run a second course. He stressed that this would be a course for people with limited or no experience of directing.
6 THEATRE LUNCHEON
Jack Barrett reported that he had had no success with the contacts he had been pursuing; this was disappointing as he had had some positive indications. He will continue with his efforts in what is a very difficult task.
