4 FESTIVALS
a) Play of the Year 11/12 and Dinner
Joan confirmed that 10 entries had been received so far, from the following groups: Burton Joyce, Orchard, Prospect, WBDS, Bonington, PTC. East Leake would be entering soon. Included in these entries are two pantomimes: Burton Joyce and Bonington.
She reported that problems had arisen because one group, was not happy that their entry had been refused.
This was because they had submitted their entry less than a week before the opening night, and, when refused, had contacted the adjudicator directly in a plea to get the decision overturned, thus breaking rules 4, 6 and 13. The Council gave their unanimous support to the co-ordinator's actions in this case.
POY Dinner Nothing to report.
b) One Act Festival -
Bob Wildgust reported that five entries had been received from The Lacemarket, Burton Joyce, WBDS and two entries from Stafford Acting School (a drama school, whose members are aged up to 16). He confirmed that there was no bar on a youth entry but that they would be judged equally with adult groups. As stated before, this year the winner goes straight through to the semi final. Next year the group winner must go through the quarter final stage. Were the Stafford group to win, they would be the Notts representatives.
He confirmed the date - 24th March, with 3 plays in the afternoon, two plays and the adjudication in the evening. Mike Stewart and Neil Mackintosh confirmed that they would do the technical support.
c) Youth Festival
All information has been sent out to groups and is also available on the website. The missing trophy has been returned. Trophies will be photographed for record and insurance purposes.
