4 FESTIVALS
a) Play of the Year 11/12 and Dinner
Five entries have been received so far. To date, no adjudications have been received, but Joan is expecting to receive them in the coming week. If not, she will chase this up.
Dinner The Welbeck Hotel has been booked for Friday June 15th 2012 - this date to be confirmed. No deposit is required until later. Further arrangements will be made at a later date..
b) One Act Festival -
Bob Wildgust reported on the current situation. NANDA is now linked to AETF and we can perform in their festivals. AETF was initially pleased to have us back and offered us a trophy. In addition NANDA was allowed to go to through to the semi final thus missing out a qualifying round. This decision had caused upset in other area groups. AETF has reorganised the area groups and NANDA will be in a new group with Warwickshire and Leicestershire. Next year will be the final year NANDA has free entry into the semi final; from 2013 we will have to compete for the semi final. As AETF rules differ slightly from ours we will have to change our entry rules from 2013. The three groups within the area will have to take it in turns to be responsible for the area final:- in 2013 it is Warwickshire; 2014 it is Leicestershire and 2015 it will be NANDA.
Regarding the 2012 festival, Bob had contacted newspapers in Lincolnshire and Derbyshire, promoting the event and has received three enquiries so far. Tony Vokes said that WBDS would put in an entry and Jack Barratt said that he was confident the Lacemarket Theatre would do so.
c) Youth Festival
Joan confirmed that the festival will take place on 18th and 19th May 2012 at Chilwell School. She will be meeting with the organisers, Sonia Oates and Jean Lebeter, before Christmas to discuss arrangements. Concern was expressed that the trophy for best actor had still not been returned in spite of frequent requests.
5 THEATRE LUNCHEON
Joan thanked Jack Barratt for organising the recent successful theatre luncheon. Forty members had enjoyed an entertaining question and answer session from Clive Francis and Beattie Edney. Jack said he had received many emails from members who had enjoyed the event. He in turn praised the service we received from the Welbeck Hotel. He said that he would try for a speaker in February or March. Joan noted that the press coverage of the event had been good with a full page spread in the Nottingham Post.
