NOTTINGHAM AND NOTTINGHAMSHIRE DRAMA ASSOCIATION

Minutes of the Meeting of the Executive Council held on Tuesday 14th December 2010 at East Leake.

Present: Joan Wildgust (Chairman), Christine Davison (Secretary), Madeline Lord, Neil Mackintosh,(Treasurer), Roy Ainscough, Tony Vokes, Mike Stewart.

1 Apologies for absence were received from Sonya Oates, Linda Whitehurst, Howard Whitehurst, Jack Barrett, Bob Wildgust, Keyworth Dramatic Society.

2 Minutes and matters arising. - The minutes of the previous Council Meeting held on Tuesday 16th November had been circulated and these were signed as a correct record.
Amendment to dates of Council meetings: the following two dates were omitted from the list of meetings in 2011 - March 15th and April 12th.
Potential closure of Bonington Theatre, Arnold.- A 'Save Arnold Leisure Centre' group has been formed. Linda Whitehurst is the NANDA representative and Tony Tatton is the representative for Prospect Players. Representatives from both Bonington Players and Prospect Players are due to meet County Council representatives in January. They have handed in a list of questions for the Council to consider.
No action is planned from NANDA at the present. Linda willl keep us informed.
Stanford Hall - Roy had nothing to report as he has received no response to a request for information from Chek Whyte.

4 FESTIVALS
a) Play of the Year 10/11 and Dinner
Joan reported that six plays so far had been entered for the competition, representing a variety of genres. There is one more entry in March from West Bridgford but hopefully there will be more entries in the New Year.
Nothing to report on the Dinner.
b) One Act Festival
Simon Carter - last year's area winner- will be entering a new play. So far there have been no other entries. Bob Wildgust will give the event more publicity in the New Year as the closing date is the end of January.
c) Youth Festival - Nothing to report.
d) Playwriting competition
Various aspects of this competition were discussed, including cost, venue, rules and the difficulty of getting the short listed plays performed. Council members were urged to read the rules for the competition on the website, with a view to having a full discussion at February's meeting.
There was a short discussion about the possibility of commissioning a play. Roy had been in contact with someone who had indicated a grant might be available for this. He will find out further details.

5 Theatre Luncheon
Jack has been successful in securing Amanda Whittington for the celebrity luncheon on Friday 28th January at the Welbeck Hotel. The event is already proving popular with 40 tickets already sold. The event will take the form of a question and answer session. Jack is also in negotiations with a theatrical agent and is hopeful that another luncheon will take place in March.

In Howard's absence, there was nothing to report. Joan urged all groups to continue sending in articles and news items.
Website
Roy asked for publicity about the Dan Shaw archive. This archive will keep the records, minutes documents etc of drama groups in a safe place.

7 Correspondence/Amendments to membership
Madeline announced that, with regret, she would no longer be attending Council meetings as the ELAPS representative She would, however, be happy to help at various festivals and functions organised by NANDA. She was thanked for all her hard work and commitment..

8 AOB An initial notice of the AGM will be sent out to groups and individuals by post or email before Christmas. The papers for the meeting will be posted or emailed in the second week of January.

9 Date of next council meeting.
The next meeting will be at 7.00pm on Tuesday 15th February 2011 at Arnold

The meeting ended at 8.20pm.
