Jack had received a bill from the Dukeries Theatre, dating from 2008, which had gone astray. Joan had asked for a reduction in the fees due to the unsatisfactory premises, but had received no reply. The bill will be passed on to Joan and Neil will make further enquiries in the meantime

4 Festivals
a) One Act Festival
From Bob Wildgust: nothing to report.
Roy noted that as the competition is in March 2011, we need to start planning soon. It is hoped that Bob Wildgust will organise the festival again. There is, at present, no adjudicator. If the competition is to be held at Chilwell Olympia again the problems of lighting and sound need to be addressed. .

b) Youth Festival
Sonya will contact Jean Lebeter shortly about arrangements. Given the enthusiasm expressed by various groups, it is hoped that there will be a reasonable number of entries next year. The venue needs to be confirmed. Neil will investigate the possibility of the Duchess Theatre

c) Play of the Year and Dinner
From Joan Wildgust (message sent )
i) The adjudicator for next year will be Gordon Parsons, whose services have been booked.
ii) The Awards dinner was a successful and enjoyable evening. Jean Lebeter gave an excellent speech which was well received. The buffet was a success and Joan wished to thank Linda Whitehurst and Christine Davison for their hard work in organising the event.
iii) We now need to book next year's venue as soon as possible. As the Golf Club is up for sale, we need to investigate alternative venues.

5 Theatre Luncheon
Jack reported that, in spite of all his efforts over the last few months, Robert Lindsay would not be able to attend as a guest speaker, due to pressure of commitments. He noted that Penelope Keith and Peter Bowles were appearing in October at the Theatre Royal and he would try to secure one of them. There was a discussion on the possibility of charging members more and offering some remuneration to a speaker, but it was thought that this would change the nature of the event. No conclusion was reached on this proposal. Roy will try for Amanda Whittington in mid November.

6 Newsletter and Website
The latest NANDA Newsletter has just gone out. Roy was congratulated on his article about being an extra, and it was suggested that other members could contribute articles on the same theme.
Council members expressed their satisfaction with the Website. It was stated again that groups need to send in details of their shows for the Calendar.

7 Correspondence/Amendments to membership
No correspondence.
Membership change:-
Orchard Theatre Company Secretary - Gwyneth Crooks,
Chatsworth Centre and Ravenshead Theatre Group have resigned from NANDA.

AOB
Howard noted that we need to encourage more groups to enter the Play of the Year competition. To this end it would be useful if representatives from groups could be encouraged to attend Council meetings.

Date of next Council meeting Tuesday 21st September at Arnold

The meeting ended at 8.15pm.
