Minutes of the Meeting of the Executive Council held on Tuesday 22nd September at Arnold.

Present: Joan Wildgust (Chairman), Christine Davison (Secretary), Madeline Lord, Mel Reynolds, Neil Mackintosh (Treasurer), Linda Whitehurst, Roy Ainscough.

1 Apologies for absence were received from Hayley Masom, Jon Jones, Tony Vokes, Jack Barrett and Sonya Oates.

2 Minutes and matters arising. - The minutes of the previous Council Meeting held on Tuesday June 16th 2009 had been circulated and these were signed as a correct record.
Joan has written to GODA regarding members' dissatisfaction with the adjudication of Play of the Year. She has received no response to date.

The council approved the draft accounts which will be submitted to the AGM .

4. Discussion Item - Dates of meetings 2009/2010
All meetings will, as usual, be on a Tuesday and will start at 7.00pm. The following dates were agreed:-
13th October, 17th November, 15th December, 16th February, 16th March, 13th April, 11th May, 15th June, 13th July.
The AGM will be held on Sunday 31st January at 6.00pm. The Council will investigate a suitable venue.
Other dates
One Act Festival - 5th - 6th March 2010
Youth Festival - 13th/14th/15th May 2010
Play of the Year Awards Dinner - 18th June 2010.

5. Festivals
a) Play of the Year 09/10 and Dinner
Information on this has been emailed to groups.
The charge for adjudication will remain at £60 per group per adjudication.
The adjudicator will be Jean Lebeter. Her costs for each adjudication will be £50 plus 25p per mile travelling expenses. Joan reported that Jean was very excited at the prospect of adjudicating. Joan will find out her requirements regarding each group's venue. She has confirmed that she will be able to attend the dinner.
The venue - Cotgrave Place Golf Club - has been booked and a deposit paid.
One entry has been received so far and three more are in the pipeline.
b) One Act Festival
Reference was made to Bob Wildgust's letter of 13th July 09, which was sent out to members Arrangements are now in place for the Festival. The adjudicator will be Jill Gautrey. A letter marketing the event has been sent to 70 groups in total (All NANDA groups plus others in the wider East Midlands region)
Neil said that anyone wanting to see the venue in use could come and see Orchard Theatre's production of The End of the Food Chain by Tim Firth at Chilwell Olympia Theatre in February (details in January's Newsletter).
c) Youth Festival
Nothing to report. - Joan will be contacting Sarah and Sonya.

6 Theatre Luncheon
Jack is still waiting for Nigel Havers' PA to get back to him but he is hopeful that he will be able to attend a luncheon in December.
It was noted that Simon Shepherd, our last speaker, will be appearing soon at the Playhouse. Chris will send him a card expressing NANDA's best wishes.

8 Correspondence/Amendments to membership
A new Members' booklet with contact details will be sent out soon.

9 AOB
Mel raised the issue of the New Independent Safeguarding Authority. There was a discussion about the requirement for CRB checks in relation to members of amateur drama groups working with children. Joan will ask Jack to do some more research on this for a future meeting.
There was a discussion on the current problems with Stanford Hall Theatre. Roy expressed some cautious optimism.
The deadline for next year's Gurd Award will be the end of March '10 in time for presentation at the PoY Dinner.

10 Date of next council meeting.

The next meeting will be at 7.00pm on Tuesday 13th October at East Leake
