Lighting Designer - Mark Pritchard

Mark has lit more than 40 productions in the West End. Opera and ballet credits include: designs for Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet, The Stuttgart Ballet, Phoenix Opera, three seasons for Dublin Opera, Wexford Opera Festival, and the World Premiere of Peter Maxwell Davies Martyrdom of St. Magnus in Kirkwall. International credits include: productions at the National Theatres of France, Iceland and both the Abbey and Gate Theatre in Dublin, working extensively in Denmark and touring productions across Europe, to New York, the Sydney and Perth Festivals.

Mark has lit productions for companies at varying scales throughout the UK from RSC to Theatre San Frontiers; lighting eight seasons for the Pitlochry Festival Theatre. Regional producing theatres include: Theatre Royal Plymouth, the Traverse, Northern Stage, West Yorkshire Playhouse and Nottingham Playhouse where he also designed the external lighting scheme. Mark regularly lectures in Lighting Design, designs internal and exterior lighting schemes for theatre and heritage sites and is a long standing Board member of the Theatre Royal, Stratford East.

Mark is the longest serving Board Member of Pioneer Theatres, including a spell as acting Chair. He worked with Joan Littlewood for 10 years starting with Oh! What A Lovely War and in various capacities including Production Manager, Set and Lighting Designer. He has pursued a successful career as a Lighting Designer, lighting over 40 productions in the West End and working at most of the major regional theatres, throughout Europe, in the U.S.A., Canada and Australia. He has also worked at drama schools including RADA, LAMDA and Central, both in a designing and teaching capacity. Together with Joan Littlewood, Mark is responsible for resolving the problems of the freehold of the Theatre Royal Stratford East and forming the Theatre Workshop Trust, to hold the freehold. He is the Chair of Theatre Workshop Trust and of Stratford East Trading Ltd, the trading subsidiary of Pioneer Theatres Ltd.
