NOTTINGHAM THEATRE CLUB - The Lace Market Theatre in 1986
Chairman: Roger Newman - Wollaton
Secretary: Doreen Sheard - Bramcote
The aim of the Nottingham Theatre Club is to present a wide variety of plays and activities both for members and the public. During a season 8 full length plays are performed Monday to Saturday
and 4 Fents on Friday and Saturday.
In addition we have a thriving Writers' Group, Prose and Poetry Group and Junior Group who all meet regularly, the Juniors present a performance during the year. We endeavour to include a play in the Nottingham Festival in June. 1986/87 season will be our 40th anniversary.
We are fortunate to have our own Theatre, The Lace Market Theatre, a building listed as of historic and architectural interest, (which is available for hire, if convenient) with a rehearsal room, costume preparation and dressing rooms, storage space and a central heating system.
So as well as encouraging members to be involved in all aspects of staging a play, we welcome anyone who is willing to participate in the running of the Theatre itself. Members are entitled to seat price reduction, to attend 'special evenings' and social functions.
We recently acted as host to two visiting German companies who performed two plays in German and gave readings from the 'A' level syllabus.
Our programme last year included:
"Andy Capp" (Musical)
"Miss Julie"
"Blood Relations"
"Amadeus"
"84 Charing Cross Road"
"The Tempest"
"Shadow of a Gunman"
"The Turn of the Screw"
"The Pot of Gold"
"Piaf"
"Blithe Spirit"
"Nicholas Nickleby"
