KEYWORTH DRAMATIC SOCIETY in 1986
Chairman: Sheila Southwell - Keyworth
Secretary: Linda Johns - Keyworth
The Society was formed in 1969 to undertake the study and performance of dramatic works and the raising of funds for the benefit of such charitable and philanthropic organisations as are approved by the Society. The Society has a base in the Old Barn, Main Street, Keyworth, where its property is stored, but meetings are usually held on Monday evenings at one of the local halls or in members' own homes.
The annual programme of productions includes two major three act plays, along with an evening of one act plays. Music halls and pantomimes have also become regular features. There is also a very varied list of social and training functions, theatre outings, etc. Productions are staged at the Stanford Hall Theatre, Rempstone and in the Village Hall.
The Society membership has increased and the group has established a strong Junior Section so that total membership is approaching 100. The Society emphasises its role within the local community, participating wherever possible in local events.
