For the Preservation of Amateur Dramatic Society Records
The issue of preserving the records of community theatre groups became apparent when the Association undertook research for its publication of the History of Amateur Theatre in Notts. This prompted the late Dan Shaw to offer funding to establish a dedicated archive in the Nottinghamshire County Archive Offices in Canal Street.
Some groups and Nanda itself have lodged their records already and these can be viewed by interested parties. It is to be hoped that societies will not leave it until the day they cease to function but will, from time to time, present their operational records for inclusion in this archive file; no need to store it all in lofts and garages until it is forgotten.
The Archive Office will be pleased to receive and catalogue minutes, programmes, financial statements, constitutions and photographs and provide a list of what is submitted which still remains the property of the lodging group and available for reference if needed. Please do not wait until some former secretary leaves and all records are lost: parcel up these records and offer them for retention in this unique archive file.
