ANNUAL REPORT 1998-1999

Play of the Year Competition.
Thirteen plays were entered for the competition. Malcolm Wilson adjudicated. The Association records its great appreciation of the work of Margot Anderson who acted as organiser for the competition. A list of the societies and individuals who were awarded trophies is published separately.

One Act Open Festival.
The Association held its One Act Open Festival at the Chatsworth Centre, Long Eaton on 3-5 June 1999. Seven entries were received, John Shooter adjudicated and the list of award winners is published separately. The Association records its appreciation of the work of Peter Stimson in organising this Festival, of Mike Stewart and Neil Mackintosh for assistance with the detailed stage management arrangements.

One Act Youth Festival
The Association held its youth Festival at the Robin Hood Theatre, Averham, on the 16-17 April 1999. Nine entries were received. Max Bromley adjudicated and the list of award winners is published separately. The Association records it appreciation of the work of Dawn Hatfield in organising this Festival. of Mike Stewart for assistance with the detailed stage management arrangements, and of the staff of the Robin Hood Theatre for the operation of the stage lighting and sound equipment.

Bulletin
Editions of the Bulletin were published in September 1998, February 1999 and September 1999, thanks are due to Roy Ainscough for editing and publishing.

Trophies
We are indebted to Touch Wood Youth Theatre for the donation of a trophy to be awarded for an improvised or original play in the NANDA Youth Theatre Festival. And to June Barker for the resurrection and re-donation of four trophies, two for the Youth Theatre Festival; for the Runner Up play and a special discretionary (For Entertainment) award, and two for the One Act Play Festival; the John Barker Award at the Adjudicators discretion and the Gladys Brookes Award for Best Newcomer Achievement.

Events
The Association staged has embarked on the compilation of a History of Amateur Drama in Nottinghamshire, supported by Millennium Lottery Money, for publication in 2000. The Association records its appreciation of the work of Dan Shaw and Roy Ainscough for the collection, correlation and editing of this data.

Annual Award Dinner
This year's Dinner Dance was held at Derek Randall Suite, Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club on the 29 May 1998, Roy Ainscough presided, and Malcolm Wilson, assisted by Carolyn Drury, presented the Adjudicators report on the Play of the Year Competition. The Association records its sincere thanks to West Bridgford Dramatic Society, whose 50th anniversary it also was, for arranging the venue.

Executive Council
The Association records its appreciation of the services and support of the Honorary Officers and members of the Executive Council, which met ten times during the year
