ANNUAL REPORT 2017-2018

This has been a very special year as it was the 70th anniversary of NANDA. To celebrate we hope we have succeeded in making the year more memorable.

To that end we started in November 2017 with a private showing of "A Chorus of Disapproval" at the Broadway cinema. This included a buffet before the film and the event was enjoyed by representatives from 15 NANDA groups.

January saw a Theatre Luncheon and was slightly different from our usual celebrity guest. Our speaker was Mark Pritchard, talking about his experiences as a lighting designer of big West End productions. He had many interesting stories to tell and the talk was enjoyed by all.

In February we were hosted by the Lace Market Theatre to a performance of "Flare Path", followed by a buffet. This was attended by members of many NANDA groups and by the Lord Mayor of Nottingham and his Lady, both of whom enjoyed the event.

In May, we organised our annual Youth Festival. It was, as usual, an enjoyable event , although it was slightly disappointing that there were fewer entrants. We hope that we can encourage more groups to enter this year.

In contrast, our Play of the year competition had a record number of 25 entries. This was a fitting tribute to our 70 years of existence and showed an ever improving standard of performance.

Our final event of the year was the Annual Dinner and Awards Night at the Crowne Plaza hotel, Nottingham, made a little more special by our table decorations but mostly by yet another record attendance.

There have been no workshops this year, but if any group wishes to organise one and open it up to all NANDA members, please speak to the council, who will offer any help needed.

I hope this anniversary year has been a positive milestone in the history of NANDA, one that we can all build on for the future of amateur drama throughout Nottingham, Notts and further.
