Play of the Year Competition.
Twelve plays were entered for the competition which Gordon Parsons adjudicated. The Association records its great appreciation of the work of Margot Anderson who acted as organiser for the competition. A list of the societies and individuals who were awarded trophies is published separately.
One Act Open Festival.
The Association held its One Act Open Festival at the Chatsworth Centre, Long Eaton on 13-15 June 2002. Eight entries were received, Bob Wildgust adjudicated and the list of award winners is published separately. The Association records its appreciation of the work of Peter Stimson in organising this Festival, of Mike Stewart and Neil Mackintosh for assistance with the detailed stage management arrangements.
One Act Youth Festival
The Association held its youth Festival at the Dukeries Theatre, Ollerton, on the 19-20 April 2002. Nine entries were received. Di Richards adjudicated and the list of award winners is published separately. The Association records it appreciation of the work of Jean Lebeter in organising this Festival, of Mike Stewart for assistance with the detailed stage management arrangements, and of members of Edwinstowe Theatre Group for setting up the stage lighting and sound equipment.
Bulletin
Editions of the Bulletin were published in September 2001, February 2002 and September 2002, thanks are due to Roy Ainscough for editing and publishing.
Events
Kate Parker, who had been our secretary for two years, resigned for personal reasons, and we are indebted to her for her energy and organisation. Maggie Andrew has taken up the post.
A Theatre Luncheon was held on the 3 May 2002 at the Comfort Hotel, George Street, at which the guest was Tony Britton. Our thanks are due to Douglas MacDonald, who set up the arrangements and to Roy Ainscough for publicity.
Annual Award Dinner
This year's Annual Dinner was held at the Lakeside, Mansfield Road, Nottingham on the 17 May 2002, Roy Ainscough presided, and Gordon Parsons presented the Adjudicators report on the Play of the Year Competition. The Association records its sincere thanks to Bonington Players for arranging the venue.
